LuxConnect is always open to welcoming new Internet nodes to improve local connectivity.

Benefits of an Internet Exchange Node

  • Cost Optimization: Traffic passing through an Internet exchange node (IXP) is not subject to external network fees, reducing costs for ISPs and network operators.
  • Latency Optimization: Direct interconnection reduces the distance data travels, lowering latency and improving speeds for real-time applications.
  • Bandwidth Optimization: A local IXP allows for unlimited data transfer, enhancing bandwidth between neighboring ISPs, especially in regions with limited long-distance connections.

LU-CIX

LU-CIX is the national Internet exchange point that interconnects critical networks and hosts international content providers in a secure and trusted environment in the heart of Europe. Founded in 2009, it is based on a not-for-profit membership association with an open and neutral philosophy. Its aim is to develop and support the Internet and data center ecosystem in Luxembourg by providing the national peering infrastructure and by promoting the national and European ICT community.

NL-ix

NL-ix offers a comprehensive portfolio of interconnection services, including a hybrid IX/IP service (NL-ix Transit), Elastic Interconnect for enterprises, and extensive cloud connectivity options. It remains a leading Internet Exchange, with average daily traffic peaking above 7.9 Tbit/s in 2023, ranking it as the fifth largest in the world by traffic volume. NL-ix is known for its fully meshed international interconnection fabric, allowing networks to interconnect easily without physical circuit changes, and it provides low-latency, secure, and controlled traffic exchange across a pan-European layer-2 Ethernet fabric connecting approximately 100 Data Centers in seven countries.

ECIX

ECIX grew by responding to market imbalances and providing neutral, cost-effective interconnection options where needed. With the support of Megaport, ECIX has accelerated its growth and enhanced its services, continuing to prioritize community and customer needs. The company maintains its core values and operates with a focus on local interconnection, running five distinct exchanges across Germany instead of a single large one. ECIX is present in Luxembourg and reachable in direct or through the LU-CIX infrastructure.

BNIX

BNIX is the Belgian Internet exchange point that supports a better exchange of data between sixty interconnected members. BNIX is a physical infrastructure that allows Internet Service Providers (ISPs or ISPs), content providers, hosts or companies to exchange Internet traffic between their autonomous system networks, thanks to peering agreements. BNIX isn’t present in Luxembourg but reachable through the LU-CIX infrastructure.

France-ix

France-IX is the leading provider of peering services in France, connecting more than 500 local and global players with a wide range of profiles to its neutral exchange points. France-ix isn’t present in Luxembourg but reachable through the LU-CIX infrastructure.

LuxConnect supports the growth of Internet nodes in Luxembourg, leveraging a diversified fiber optic infrastructure and Tier IV data centers. Located in the heart of Europe, LuxConnect offers low-latency connectivity within the country borders, allowing operators to connect major European hubs, enhancing both local and international connections. By fostering Internet nodes, LuxConnect enhances local Internet quality and positions Luxembourg as a key player in the European digital landscape.
